After a huge breakfast, a four-hour bus ride, and a beautiful lunch at Cafe Macadamia, we arrived in the village of Bonanza Norte. We spent the night at our Bienvenida party dancing with the kids, being amazed by magic tricks, and eating incredible homemade food. Aftwerward, we had our first group meeting and ended the night setting up our housing.

Our first true work day started at 6:30 AM with a rooster as our alarm and a delicious breakfast. We shoveled dirt and rocks, pushed wheelbarrows, and helped level out the community gym floors. The rain, though, eventually stopped our work and we spent time inside of the community center. After the rain ceased, we went on a scavenger hunt to places like the river, mini-cafe, corner store, etc.

Later, we went to the corner store and had some refreshing ice cream. The rain then hit again and we stayed in the community center and played a game of “Ha” until we took a deserved rest in our respective houses.

Stay tuned for more!
